Trauma is a chapter, not the story.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy at Thrive uses play as a child’s most natural language as a tool to share their stories and manage their emotions.

We use a child-led approach, allowing children to communicate and process their experiences at their own pace and in their own language.

Play Therapy is for children who need a voice, offering them a path to healing through play.

Sessions are 45-minutes with an additional 15 minutes reserved for case noting and playroom reset.
Therapeutic Life Story Work (TLSW)
Therapeutic Life Story Work (TLSW) at Thrive provides a structured and supportive approach to help children in care understand and make sense of their past.

TLSW is for children who need clarity about their past to better understand their present, facilitating a deeper connection with their personal histories and fostering a stronger sense of identity.

The process involves three main stages: initial information gathering, one-on-one sessions to explore and narrate the child's story, and the creation of a physical Life Story Book, for the child to keep.

We collaborate closely with children, allowing them to lead the narrative and decide what is important to include in their life story books – nothing makes it into their book without their say so. This is such a powerful process giving them control over how their stories are told.

Sessions are tailored to the individual needs of each child and can involve a caregiver if available, with flexibility to ensure the pace at which they explore their story is comfortable.
